On Friday, Mindy and I went to a vigil for the bill that the Ugandan government is trying to pass which would put gay people to death just for being gay. They will also put people in prison for knowing someone is gay and failing to report it. For more information, please visit the Pride Uganda website: www.pua-int.org. Please also write your MP’s and Stephen Harper, or your senators and President Obama, regarding putting pressure on Uganda to stop this bill, regarding pulling funding from this country, and regarding putting a stop to the right wing evangelical groups currently doing missionary work in Africa that are spreading this kind of hatred of human beings.
We learned at the vigil that even those Ugandans living in Canada are often very afraid to speak out for fear of what might happen to their families back at home. They need our help!
