The Red Roof Women’s Music Festival

Hello everyone,
Mindy and I went to the Red Roof Women’s Music Festival in Marlbank, Ontario, about 2 1/2 hours away East of Toronto. Here are some pictures to document the event:
The tent we stayed in. We managed to still love each other after putting up a tent for the first time. I think this proves our marriage is solid. 😉

The grounds were beautiful.

It was a very hot and humid day so every few hours we went swimming in Lyme Lake, which was so freshing. It felt so good.

We saw lots of great musicians from various places and with varying styles of music. The headliner, and the main reason we went, was Disappear Fear, a band from Baltimore.

As soon as I saw the Maryland plates drive up I was all excited. I went over to Sonia and introduced myself and she came and joined us on the lawn.

I got to meet Cindy and Laura too. They were so nice.

For those of you who know the band, you won’t be surprised to hear that they rocked the house and everyone LOVED them. They kept screaming it throughout their concert.

I went nuts when they sang, “We met at the Double T diner…” Mindy and I were the only ones the crowd who had ever been there I’m sure.

They sang in English, Spanish, Hebrew and Arabic. I was impressed.

At the end of the show just before their encore (Kiss the World Goodnight), someone yelled out, “Hey where are you from?” Laura, the percussionist answered, “Baltimore” and I cheered with pride. I was the only one cheering so everyone looked at me in amazement (yes, I know the Orioles suck, but hey it’s my home.) Cindy said, “well there’s at least one person from Baltimore here.” And then Sonia said, “yeah, but she’s moved up here to be with her lover”, to which everyone cheered. I felt so good.
After the concert we bought her latest CD “Tango” and got autographs from Sonia, Cindy and Laura.
I was so excited it took a long time to fall asleep. It was a good weekend.
Thank you to Chris who told me about the festival.
lots of love to all of you, who I hope are also making the best of the summer.
