With numerous locations throughout southern Ontario, Rawlicious is a vegan restaurant chain that offers a seemingly endless variety of raw, vegan dishes.
I had the opportunity to visit the location Barrie, Ontario, located steps away from Lake Simcoe, to celebrate my birthday with family.
Atmosphere
Although the restaurant is small and housed on the ground floor of a business building, it’s decorated beautifully and feels quite comfortable. Despite it being so cold outside, the interior was warm and relaxing.
Menu
The first thing I spotted on the menu was their mint hot chocolate (albeit not raw), and it was a wonderful treat to help combat the wintery weather.
The rest of the menu offers a variety of fresh juices and smoothies, appetizers, salads, pastas, pizzas, wraps and, of course, desserts.
The food was mouthwateringly good, and even the staunch meat-eaters in the group were impressed and satisfied.
Service and Prices
The service was extremely friendly, happy to discuss the recipes of their food. As to be expected with raw food, it did take some time to prepare our meals, but 15 minutes was definitely worth the wait for the food that came out of the kitchen.
The menu is appropriately priced for the large meal portions served (I had to take some of my food home). Rawlicious serves a unique niche in the area, so the bill may be a bit higher than its neighboring restaurants, but the food certainly makes it worthwhile.
The next time we find ourselves in Barrie, we know that we’ll meet our family for a meal at Rawlicious!

I am new to Ontario living in Bradford from BC – would like to start up raw vegan group – or connect with others eating raw plant based food. As a raw chef I want to hold raw vegan potlucks again here – like I did in BC, and help build this community. ezrawliving.blogspot.com is my blog
