Located only a block away from Lake Ontario, Lettuce Love Cafe is a vegan restaurant in Burlington that offers 100% vegan and gluten-free meals with a farm to table philosophy. Kelly Childs, who founded the restaurant in 2010, is also the founder of Burlington’s Kelly’s Bake Shoppe, which has been serving delectable desserts since 2012.
Atmosphere
The dining space is small when compared to this cafe’s popularity, so it can be cramped during busy meal times. The brightly colored walls are uplifting and refreshing, much like the fresh juices, and the sheer number of talking diners can make the restaurant quite loud.
Menu
The menu includes a variety of appetizers, soups, sandwiches and healthy vegetable bowls, as well as a sampling of desserts from Kelly’s Bake Shoppe.
With so much choice, it was difficult to make a decision for our lunch meal, but we finally opted for the B.L.A.T. (Bacuns-Lettuce-Avocado-Tomato) Sandwich with their 10-vegetable soup and the beautiful Happy Buddha Bowl.
The Avocado Fries we saw on our neighbor’s table looked delicious, so that will be on our order the next time we visit!
Service and Prices
In cafeteria style, guests order at the front from a large menu board and pay the cashier. You’re given a number to place on your table and your food is brought to you. The service is friendly and surprisingly quick, despite the number of diners in the restaurant.
Dishes typically cost between $10-15, which reflects the love and compassion that goes into the food. Although it’s more expensive than your typical fast food restaurant, the food is absolutely worth it!
Every time we find ourselves in the Burlington area, Lettuce Love Cafe will be sure to make our itinerary.
