Hogtown Vegan - Featured

Located in Toronto’s west end the Hogtown Vegan serves up cruelty-free comfort food. If you are looking for a homey place to share a meal with friends, family or someone special, head over to 1056 Bloor Street West for a tasty bite…ok, maybe many tasty bites as the plates arrive to your table chock full of yummy food.

Dining Area

Atmosphere

Hogtown Vegan has a very down-to-earth feel to it completely lacking in pretentiousness. We felt relaxed and comfortable sitting in one of the diner-style booths using cutlery and dishware that we might find at home. The lack of showy decor helped us focus on the two most important aspects to any meal, the conversation and the food. The dining room has both tables and chairs as well as booths and a fully-stocked bar.

Menu

If you are looking to enjoy a wrap with hummus, alfalfa sprouts and greens, keep walking! The Hogtown offers big portions of hearty soul food. Expect to feel like you are home for Thanksgiving dinner and be prepared to leave feeling full enough to unbutton that top button on your jeans.

Un-chicken and Waffles

The menu at Hogtown looks very similar to diner menus all across North America from wings and fries to nachos and steak sandwiches. The only difference is that every dish is 100% plant-based. We enjoyed their signature chicken and waffles and Grandma-style mac and cheese.

The Hogtown has a full bar and a nice selection of desserts including deep fried apple pie and an irresistible chocolate mousse parfait.

Service and Prices

We were welcomed right away upon stepping foot inside the Hogtown and the waiter was friendly and attentive throughout our entire stay. He was also very knowledgeable about the menu and sensitive to food allergies. It was clear that he was a fan of the food that he was serving. Just like at Grandma’s house Hogtown is a slow food establishment so expect to wait a little for your meal.

Prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area and reflect the care and time that go into each dish.

We look forward to eating at The Hogtown Vegan the next time we are in Toronto and have already discussed which dishes we’d like to try next.
